Alligator snapper adoptions

Adoption pricing for alligator snapping turtles is $1 per pound. Unlike other groups, we are not asking for your money in exchange for a printable certificate and plush toy. This is because we actually raise money for research instead of salaries and our adoptions are all based upon actual real living turtles that are part of ongoing long term studies. All proceeds directly fund our mark and recapture fieldwork and you will receive updates regarding your adopted turtle whenever a recapture occurs.

This is Hank. Hank is 154 pounds of pure boss at the Cherokee county study site. Named in honor of Hank Williams a 'grand father' of country music. Our Hank could very well be a grand father as well. Transponder/chip # 3DD.003DEED760

BUD IS A GOOD BOY! $150

Bud is one of our captive alligator snappers. We received him from wildlife officials from an out of state wildlife agency. Apparently he has been in captivity since he was a baby in 1972! This not only makes him more than 50 years old but one of the few alligator snappers anywhere with an accurate age estimate. He is a healthy captive with a very shy and sweet personality but not fit enough for life in the wild. We have never encountered such a massive yet sweet dispositioned alligator snapper! Bud is used in some of our outreach events. Your adoption of Bud will go towards the cost of his care

NEST GUARDIAN! $150

We are proud to say we are the first to document natural egg laying and hatching of alligator snapping turtles in Texas! We also respond to provide nest protection on alligator snapping turtle nest to increase their chances of hatching. NEST GUARDIAN helps fund our expenses in materials and transportation needed to protect nests. With this 'adoption' we will provide you with nest data and (fingers crossed) information on the babies!
